With almost half the population using social media daily, Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest are a big part of everyone’s lives. In this age of technology, social media has become a very valuable tool.

The 3 Biggies: Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest

While Facebook and Instagram are owned by the same company, each app has different features. Facebook users can post “statuses” to keep their friends updated on their lives, join groups of people, and like or follow pages of their interest. Instagram users can follow accounts, post visual content (either video or pictures), and browse the Explore section to see content similar to their interests. Pinterest is another great app that WeNeedaVacation uses to share tips, rental information, and travel guides. Users can create “boards” to showcase their “pins.” For example, WeNeedaVacation has a board that specifically features rentals. As a Pinterest user, you’re able to “pin” our content to your own boards, thereby saving it to view later on your own account. These apps are useful tools for keeping in touch with friends and families and for businesses to share information.  Here are some of the reasons social media is extremely valuable for both the WeNeedaVacation team and homeowners.

Stay “Top of Mind” with Social Media

Social media is a great way to break through the noise of other advertisements. While you may only hear an advertisement once, you will see repeat messages if you’re following an account on social media. While our social account posts aren’t necessarily “advertisements,” they’re persuading our audiences to book with WeNeedaVacation. With almost 17,000 followers on Facebook and 15,000 on Instagram, WeNeedaVacation social media posts are viewed daily by the same large audience, helping to stay on the top of their minds.

According to Forbes, “digital marketing specialists predict that we are exposed to over 4,000 advertisement messages a day.” Due to this, advertisements can get lost in the mix. On your way home from work, for example, you may see a billboard for a local car dealer. But you may quickly forget this billboard as you’re exposed to other signs on your commute including messages on the radio, etc.

Build a Feeling of Community

Social media is a great tool for helping people stay connected. Users can connect with their friends, like pages, join groups, and more. Group members can ask questions, give advice, or find new tips for managing their rental. These members feel informed, connected, and part of a community!

Engage with an Audience

Overall, social media is a great tool for getting people excited and engaged. Instagram and Facebook Story features are videos or pictures that only exist on the page for 24 hours. Users enjoy this experience because it provides authentic content. Typically, these Stories lack filters and show things as they are without the perfection of many traditional “posts.”
