Most homeowners are unaware of the fun and engaging ways our WeNeedaVacation marketing team attracts visitors to the Cape and Islands on our site. Largely due to their creative efforts, as well as the pandemic, the number of vacationers using our site has grown significantly the past few years, up as much as 49% for the year to date over the same period in 2019.

We are so impressed with the beautiful and informative pieces the team creates, and we thought you might like to see them, too.

I recently spoke with Marketing Manager Jennie Sparrow (to whom so much of our marketing success is due) and asked if she would tell us about what they’ve been up to this summer. Here’s her response:

Jennie’s Take

We love, love, LOVE promoting the Cape and Islands to vacationers – and we especially love promoting our listings!

We are constantly finding creative new ways to attract, inform, and engage vacationers from around the world. Our goal is not only to lure them here but to enrich their experience once they’ve arrived so that they return season after season. We know that, if your guests are happy, you’ll be happy!

Connecting on Social

Here are some of the many pieces that we’ve recently shared with vacationers on our Vacationer Facebook page and Instagram account as well as on our YouTube Channel. We now have over 20,000 Facebook followers and nearly 19,000 Instagram followers!

If you don’t already follow us on these platforms, please take a moment to do so. Then you’ll see our content as we post it – and help spread the word as well! We also hope you will pass along pertinent information to your guests to get them excited about their vacations before they arrive.

Events and other helpful information

This year, we created a new landing page dedicated to Summer 2022. Here vacationers can find information on local farmers markets, the Cape Cod Baseball League, other summer events — and vacation rentals, of course!

We have also created blog posts dedicated to upcoming monthly events organized by area:

Cape Cod

Martha’s Vineyard

Nantucket

Share these posts with your guests prior to their arrival so that they can start planning their activities ahead of time!

The newest member of our marketing team, Josie Cataldo, launched a new blog/video series called Josie’s Journeys. Encourage your vacationers to follow this young local as she travels around the area highlighting special spots and fun things to do.

While we’ve had amazing weather this summer, inclement weather will inevitably arrive. Have no fear, we have a blog post for that! Our Rainy Day post is chock full of suggestions for vacationers on non-beach days.

Videos

Vacationers new to the Cape and Islands can get the local, inside scoop on what to do and where to go in our All About It and EsCape TV video series. From our favorite beaches to hidden gems, nothing beats tips and recommendations from the local experts at WeNeedaVacation!

The Full Marketing Picture

Finally, check out our Marketing Efforts page for a comprehensive look at when, where, and how we market to fill your rental with happy vacationers.

If you have a favorite spot to grab a lobster roll or a special activity that you think vacationers would like to know about, please drop us a line — jennie@weneedavacation.com — so that we can include it in our content. In the meantime, we’ll be busy creating great new content and marketing your homes!

Elizabeth Weedon

Elizabeth Weedon - Although I’ve worked for WeNeedaVacation.com since 2008, I’ve been a loyal homeowner on the site since early 1998, just a few months after the website was launched by the Talmadges. I grew up summering on the Vineyard and managed my family's rental home there since the mid-1980’s. I’m passionately devoted to the Vineyard – and to WeNeedaVacation, which I credit with enabling me to hold onto the special property that has been in our family for nearly a century. An enthusiastic member of the WNAV Homeowner Support Team, I endeavor to keep my finger on the pulse of the Cape and Islands vacation rental industry so that I can provide homeowners advice about how to ensure their booking success with us. With owner Joan Talmadge, I am also responsible for editing and writing much of the text on our website, our monthly newsletters, and Homeowner Blog posts.
